Important information about voting in the May 18th Primary Election
Register to Vote by April 18th
In order to qualify to vote in the Primary election, a voter's application must be approved by the County Clerk or postmarked by April 18th (30 days prior to the election). In Arkansas it is not required to register in a particular political party, so you can vote for Pat even if you normally vote for Republicans.
Early Voting Begins May 3rd
• For the 2010 Primary election, you may early vote beginning on May 3rd (15 days prior to Election Day).
• In most counties, early voting is conducted at the County Clerk's office.
• In counties with off-site early voting (a location other than the County Clerk's office), local newspapers will publish the designated sites.
• During a primary, early voting is available between the hours of 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, ending at 5 p.m. on the Monday before the election. Off-site early voting hours may vary by county; watch your local newspaper or contact your County Clerk for information.
Vote on Election Day, May 18th
• Vote at your poll on Election Day from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
• Your precinct is determined by where you live and the polling site is assigned by your county election commission.
• Most local newspapers publish a list of polling sites within a few days of an election.
• If you received a Voter ID card from your County Clerk, it may show your precinct. You can also find your location online at www.voterview.org.
Vote Absentee
You may vote absentee if you meet the following conditions:
• You will be unavoidably absent from your polling site on Election Day, or
• You will be unable to attend your polling site due to illness or physical disability.
Important information about voting in the June 8th Primary Election
If we do not win more than 50% of the votes cast in the Primary election, there will be a Runoff election held three weeks later on June 8, 2010. Turnout will be critical to a Runoff victory!
• If you voted in the Democratic Primary election on May 18th you are eligible to vote in the Democratic Runoff election June 8th.
• If you voted in the Republican Primary election on May 18th you are not eligible to vote in the Democratic Runoff election June 8th.
• If you did not vote in either the Democratic or Republican Primary election on May 18th you are eligible to vote in the Democratic Runoff election June 8th.
