The Capitol Building and Grounds

The Secretary of State is responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the Capitol Grounds. In addition, this office is charged with providing security for the building and is in charge of the Capitol Police. The safety of citizens and constitutional office holders is in the hands of the Secretary of State.

Pat O'Brien has worked through security issues at the Pulaski County courthouse. Pat will perform a comprehensive evaluation of the security needs of the State Capitol and enact a plan that will include input from all stakeholders. Safety and security in a post 9-11 world must be taken very seriously.

Pat O'Brien will continue the efforts of Charlie Daniels to maintain the sheer beauty of our State Capitol. The Capitol will be around for hundreds of years and we need to treat it as a state treasure. We need to aggressively market tours to our schoolchildren and seniors who have the time to enjoy its many benefits.
