Campaign Signs for the 21st Century

You have probably seen the political signs beginning to pop up like spring flowers in this election year. We will be doing something a little different in this campaign. While yard signs are a tradition in campaigns, they have not been proven to win or even significantly influence statewide races. It is time that this tradition evolve to meet the needs and opportunities of the 21st century. We will not be offering any physical yard signs, but rather deploying virtual yard signs across Arkansas.

Here are some of the most compelling reasons why:

  • With yard signs it is all or nothing. In a statewide race we would have to spend at least $40,000 on signs to win the sign war.
  • The money our campaign will save by not buying yard signs will pay for our television ads to run across Arkansas for several days. Television advertising is proven to significantly influence statewide races.
  • Campaign signs are viewed by many as a nuisance and an eye sore. We don’t want to add to the proliferation of signs that end up in landfills this year.

I hope you will help us reach our goal of getting our virtual yard signs seen by more voters than any other campaign’s signs this year. Here is how you can help:

  1. From here at our website go to “Get Involved” and click “Yard Sign” then download the Virtual Yard Sign to your computer. When you see the image, click it with the right mouse button and “copy image” or “save image as”.
  2. Attach the image to email: In the ‘Settings’ of the program that you use to send email (Outlook, Gmail, Yahoo, etc.) attach the image as a signature on your outgoing emails. If the program you use will not allow the image in the signature area, please upload the image as your picture. If these don’t work, please add the image as an attachment to emails.
  3. Make the image your profile picture on Facebook, MySpace, Twitter and other social media.
