Pat O'Brien filed paperwork at the State Capitol today to place his name on the ballot in the Democratic Primary as a candidate for Arkansas Secretary of State. The Democratic Party nominee will be decided in the May 18th Primary Election. "While I have been running hard for almost a year, I can see the finish line from here. I feel good; momentum continues to build behind our campaign and I'm ready to finish strong," Pat said from the rotunda.
Thanks to all of you who helped us exceed our fundraising goal in January! Total contributions for the month ending January 31st were $18,920. That brings our grand total raised for the Primary Election, May 18th, to $240,029. Click here to see a copy of our January monthly Campaign Finance Report.
On Wednesday, January 20, 2010, Pat is going to hold a statewide Campaign Kick-off and we want you to be part of the event! We will have campaign rallys in Fayetteville, Little Rock and Jonesboro on that day. It is very important that we have a big crowd of supporters in each city, so please put it on your calendar today. These events will be short (15-30 minutes) and scheduled not to conflict with work. Below is a list of the times and locations for these events.
Please join us in celebration of the life and work of Martin Luther King by marching with Pat in the 'Marade' on Monday, January 18th. We will gather at 9:00am at the Thrasher Boys Club (3301 State Street) which is at the corner of 33rd and State streets in Little Rock, across from the old Sim's BBQ. The parade begins at 10:00 with a program to follow at the State Capitol. It should be a beautiful day for a parade!
"Pulaski County has set a standard to provide access."
(Little Rock, Arkansas) – Pulaski Circuit/County Clerk Pat O’Brien announced today that his campaign for Secretary of State received contributions of $50,207.50 from 366 contributors in the third quarter of 2009 for a cumulative $173,058.54 raised. For the second consecutive quarter he raised more than any previous candidate in a primary election for Arkansas Secretary of State.
That was our first reaction on hearing that Pat O’Brien, who’s done a bang-up job in only a couple of terms as Pulaski County’s circuit and county clerk, is planning to run for statewide office next year, namely secretary of state. Not that we’d ever criticize anybody for wanting to better himself, but dawgone he’s going to be missed by voters of the state’s largest county.
